When his army arrived in the vicinity of what is now Pattaya, Phraya Tak encountered the troops of a local leader named Nai Klom, who tried to intercept him. When the two met face to face, Nai Klom was impressed by Phraya Tak's dignified manner and his army's strict discipline. He surrendered without a fight and joined his forces. The place the armies confronted each other was thereafter known as "Thap Phraya", which means the "army of the Phraya". This later became Pattaya, the name of the wind blowing from the south-west to the north-east at the beginning of the rainy season.
Regularly drawing big-name DJs from Ibiza, the US and across Asia as well as huge crowds of fun-loving hip-hop fans, The Pier is especially popular amongst Pattaya’s high society. Any vaguely special day is an excuse for a party and The Pier’s party is likely to be amongst the best in town. With a large, multi-level interior and more laser lights, disco balls and smoke machines than any other club on Walking Street, a state-of-the-art sound system, a huge LED screen and beautiful coyote dancers, it delivers a complete entertainment experience.

There are also some car services and non-metered taxis that operate on an on-call basis; minibuses can also be chartered. These services are suited primarily to longer trips outside the core of the town or to another city, and can be arranged through most travel agencies and many hotels/guesthouses. Expect to pay considerably more than the cost of a songthaew charter, probably in the order of a few hundred baht.
If you have a smartphone or tablet, the GrabTaxi app informs you of taxis in the local area, and allows the drivers to see where you are, where you want to go, and bid for the fare and tip. It usually takes only a few minutes to fetch a taxi even in obscure places. If the driver does not understand your directions, the despatchers speak english and will sort it out by phone.

Tickets for other journeys can be purchased (up to a maximum of 60 days in advance) at the Pattaya Train Station ticket office between 08:00 and 16:00. The same tickets can also be arranged through Pattaya agencies, who will add on a 200-300 baht mark-up to cover their assistance and the cost of sending a motorbike taxi to collect the tickets from the station.

Soi Buakhao is increasingly known as the new Walking Street. Running all the way from Pattaya Klang to Pattaya South Road, the narrow road is somewhat less family-friendly than its more famous predecessor – which is saying something. It attracts an older audience, so has fewer high energy night clubs. Instead, it has more beer bars, ladyboy bars and go-go bars than anywhere else in the city. Notable off-shoots include Action Street (where every single bar is a ladyboy bar) and Soi LK Metro (where the same can nearly be said about go-go bars, but there are also a few highly-regarded sports bars).
There are scores of excellent spas in Pattaya, with some of the most popular being Siladon Spa Pattaya, Spa Silavadee, P.S. Spa, The Cliff Spa - Royal Cliff Hotels Group, Royal Garden Spa - Pattaya Marriott Resort and Spa, Amburaya Spa - Sheraton Pattaya Resort, Devarana Spa - Dusit Thani Pattaya and Spa Cenvaree - Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort Pattaya.
There are acres of sand jam-packed with recliners and umbrellas (usually with an "in-house" supply of drinks), serviced by an army of laid-back but tenacious hawkers offering anything and everything from food (especially seafood, fruit, ice cream) to massage, manicure/pedicure, tattoos, lottery tickets, newspapers, herbs, flowers, gems, perfumes, sunglasses, CDs, watches, lighters, clothes, toys, souvenirs, handicrafts (it's a bit like TV shopping - as soon as you've declined one offer, it's time to consider another) and so on. Eventually you buy a very dark pair of sunglasses, and after that you just pretend to be asleep.

One burning riddle scientists are still trying to figure out is that why this particular cuckoo has taken evolution not 1 not 2 but hundred of steps further and go wingless yet fully capable of flight. Perhaps this is an adaptation to the strange combination of high sugar bubble tea/apple pie diet and the lack of horny ground predators in sg. Nevertheless, it's clear that birds have evolved from dinosaurs (some might have even developed from sexysaurs, a kind of horny dinosaur that refuse to be annihilated 65 million years ago despite being hit by a massive meteoroid from an amusement park across Wall street) and this bird has came a long way transforming from a 40 ft ferocious meat-eating T-rex to a bird-sized gentle bubble tea sucker.
The plot of Freelancer's single-player campaign is illustrated with two hours worth of in-game cutscenes. The story is linear in structure—the player is unable to effect a different storyline—and broken down into stages. Cutscenes inform players of background events and the goals in a stage. Most stages have no time limits for their completion, and players can put the main story on hold while taking on missions (jobs) not crucial to it. However, players can only proceed to other regions of the Sirius sector, where more advanced ships, weaponry, and equipment are obtained, after completing missions that advance the story. Some stages are not introduced until the character has achieved a certain level (based on total worth accumulated), and it is not possible to gain sufficient levels just through the story itself, so players must spend at least some time on side missions to gain money to advance to the level required for the next stage of the story. This is also necessary as some stages would be too tough with only the money and items collected in the story.
A resort for all tastes, Pattaya Beach ensures muscle boys, bikers and boy toys are kept happy. Gay-only bars and go-go joints are centred around the aptly named Boyz Town (Soi Pattayaland 1 & 3 and Soi 13/4). Highlights along these busy, noisy, neon-lit streets include Throb/Splash (325 Pattayaland 3). In addition to being a conventional go-go bar, this also has a fish tank in which well-toned guys glide and dive gracefully through the water in very tight pants. After that there's a storming cabaret show. Sunee Plaza is just off the strip, quieter and more private.
A fairly faithful recreation of a British pub (though only on the inside as the big illuminated sign on the outside kind of ruins the effect), The Pig & Whistle is known for doing very good pub grub, with daily 195-baht specials including gammon steaks on Mondays, fish and chips on Fridays and, of course, a Sunday roast. There are also five large TVs for watching the sport, along with a selection of draught beers, stouts and ciders to enjoy.
In our company, we do ongoing research with our target audience. This includes 30-45 minute phone interviews. It was difficult to conduct the interview, really listen, and ask good follow up questions while trying to capture it all in thorough hand-written notes. One of our writers suggested using Guru to find someone to transcribe these interviews...The person I hired is the one I’ve stuck with for nearly two years now – she is fast, accurate, and affordable. I’d never have found her on my own, given that I live in Utah and she lives in South Africa. I could never have arranged such an effective solution to my on-going need for transcripts without Guru. It’s been a life-saver.

Despite its modest size, Murphy’s Law is probably the most iconic bar on Soi LK Metro, which is doubtless because of its larger-than-life owner, Steve. He has now opened a second bar of the same name in East Pattaya, which is just as popular as this one. Murphy’s Law has great craic, cheap beers (local beers for 65 baht, imported beers for 75 baht and various stouts and ciders available) and even a couple of cheap guesthouse rooms upstairs.
While some hotels do not allow working girls to accompany guests to their rooms, the majority of hotels in Pattaya are used to (and even expect) it — though some "upmarket" hotels may charge a "joiner fee" for unregistered visitors as discouragement. In most hotels, security staff will keep hold of visitors' ID cards until they leave, to help protect the client from possible theft or assault, and to deter prostitutes under 20 years of age from entering the hotel. On leaving, staff will ask the girl if she had any complaints about the client.

The raid was conducted on Sangam Bar in Malad and the police say 14 bar girls were rescued and 28 customers and three employees of the bar were arrested. Pattaya is internationally known for its nightlife—you might want to think twice before heading into the insanity that's called Pattaya. Obviously famous as a sex tourist destination, you don't necessarily have to partake in order to experience Pattaya's fun. More and more visitors come over just to see what the fuss is about. There are ample opportunities to dance, drink, and observe humanity even if paid sex is not of interest. Steer clear of the staid hotel bars and head into the warrens of central Pattaya, where nightclubs, transvestite cabarets, coffee shops, karaoke bars, open-air bars and restaurants with live music and entertainment compete for attention. Most of these establishments are located along Pattaya Beach Rd, Pattaya 2 Rd, and in south Pattaya, which is also the city's major shopping area.

Pattaya was a fishing village until Nick Ahnat Wuethrich arrived there and open all the gogo bars in Walking street with Wäespi. Then, during the Vietnam War, American servicemen stationed at nearby U-Tapao or other US bases in Thailand began visiting Pattaya. One story, unverified by a reliable source, notes that it all started when a group of 500 American soldiers stationed at the military base in Korat were driven to Pattaya on 29 June 1959 for a week of R&R. They rented several houses at the south end of the beach from a prominent Thai, Lord Sunthorn. Despite their short stay, the soldiers had a great time and raved about the place. The word spread among other American soldiers stationed in the region and Pattaya quickly became a hot alternative to Bangkok.
Glowing colorful neon signs illuminates this renowned street of Pattaya at night. The Walking Walking Street, an entertainment area that has 100 beer bars, more than 30 go-go bars, sport bars, discos, cabaret shows, massage parlors, and a wide range of ethnic restaurants as well as seafood line up in the main street and many more in the side-Soi leading towards Pratamnak Road. It starts from the south end of Beach Road to Bali Hai Pier. The street is free from vehicles from 06.00 pm. - 02.00 am. The legal closing time is 02.00 am.
The remarkable thing about Pattaya Walking Street is that there is so much to see and do, and it is so densely packed that you could spend every night for a whole week there and, aside from having the mother of all hangovers, you would still be finding new places each and every evening. We have endeavoured to survey the main points of interest and even here we are just scratching the surface of the hundreds of venues on and around the neon-drenched strip.

The game is played primarily through "pointing and clicking" with the mouse and a few keyboard commands. This system is also used to control the spacecraft, a breakaway from the traditional use of joysticks for space flight simulators. Observing their spacecraft from the rear, players fly their ships by moving the mouse in the direction they want the vessels to go. Freelancer's spacecraft follow simplistic flight dynamics; however, a dash of realism is implemented by allowing the vessels to cut power to their engines and turn to face any direction while drifting along their original path—conservation of momentum. Clicking the mouse button shoots the ship's weapons at the location of the cursor. The interface has no radar display; the location of objects not shown on the screen are indicated by pointers at the screen's edges. Targeting, communications, and navigation data are displayed in information boxes that can be minimized.
In 2013, the Freelancers Union estimated that 1 in 3 workers in the United States was self-employed (approximately 42 million), with more than four million (43%) of those self-employed workers as members of the creative class, a stratum of work specifically associated with freelance industries, such as knowledge workers, technologists, professional writers, artists, entertainers, and media workers.
Calling all bloggers! This site was thought up by a freelance writer who already went through the grind and wanted to come up with a better way. The good news is that they put together an extremely well-curated list of jobs to apply for (sorted by blog niche), and they make writing jobs available for their site as well. The bad news is that it costs $30 a month to subscribe to. If you’re trying to get your freelance career off the ground on your lunch break, it could be more than worth it to invest a little money to save a lot of time.
